Weezy the Rebel

Rapper Lil Wayne was arrested in Boise, Idaho, on a felony fugitive charge after authorities in Georgia accused him of possessing a "controlled substance," authorities said.

The 25-year-old rapper, whose God-given name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., was arrested after his Friday concert at Qwest Arena and booked into the Ada County jail. Because of the type of charge, he wasn't eligible bond.

After his arrest, the jail was bombarded with dozens of angry phone calls from fans, concert promoters and others, said a jail deputy.

Apparently, Lil Wayne the outstanding felony warrant was issued from the state of Georgia more than a year ago after he missed two scheduled court dates.

According to Wayne’s attorney, William Head, however, the situation was merely a misunderstanding. “When someone’s this successful, there are chances things will fall through the cracks,” Head told Atlanta’s Fox Channel 5. “They were under the impression that those charges had either been resolved or dismissed.”

Head went on to say that Wayne never received any notices that he was supposed to appear in court. Weezy was eventually released from jail on October 6 after posting $20,000 bond.

Weezy is scheduled to be formally charged Tuesday and will be asked then if he plans to waive his extradition to Georgia, the deputy said.
