Jilly and India Enter the Acting World
Jill Scott's movie "The #1 Ladies' Detective Agency" just got picked up by HBO. The two-hour film, which was shot on location in Botswana, will serve as the series pilot and is slated to air on the BBC in the UK later this month. They will begin filming the 13 one-hour episodes (starring Jilly) which will comprise the mini-series this summer.
Another songstress who is exploring her theatrical side, India.arie, is slated to star in the first-ever revival of the classic Ntozake Shange "choreopoem" "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow Is Enuf." The Broadway play, produced in part by Whoopi Goldberg, is set to open this summer. Although she's had very limited acting experience we all know India's performance game is on point and we've got confidence she'll shine on the big stage.
A good look for both of these talented women! Go ladies!
