Busta Rhymes' Trial is Delayed

Busta Rhymes' assault trial has been postponed until November because the prosecution and Busta's defense attorney admitted that they were not prepared.

Busta, whose government name is Trevor Smith, appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court Wednesday, Sept. 5 to face assault, DUI and driving with a suspended license charges. But when he got there, Judge Larry Stevens delayed the trial until Nov. 7.

Busta was arrested following a performance on New York's Randall's Island in August 2006 after he was accused of attacking a man who allegedly spit on his car. He is also facing assault charges for allegedly assaulting a former driver last December.

In February, he was arrested for allegedly driving on a suspended license and aggravated driving, then three months later, he was stopped again and charged with driving while impaired and driving while intoxicated.
